View in your room: see a print on your wall before you buy

View in your room is a new button on every TheArtFolio product page. On a computer it shows a QR code; scan it with your phone to place that print on a wall at the size, frame and mount you chose. Already on a phone? The same button opens the wall view directly — use Safari on iPhone, or Chrome on Android.

Choosing a print is one thing. Knowing how it will sit on your wall is another. We have added View in your room to product pages so you can try a framed piece at true size, with the moulding and mount you have picked, before you order.

On a laptop or desktop it appears as a QR code. On a phone it opens the wall view straight away. Below is what a QR code actually is — and the exact steps, in order.

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a square made of black and white dots. Your phone’s camera can read it the way a till reads a barcode — except a QR code opens a web page, rather than a price.

You do not need a special app. On an iPhone, open the Camera. On Android, open the Camera or Chrome. Point at the square, wait for a banner or link to appear, and tap it. That is all a QR code is: a printed shortcut from one screen to another.

On TheArtFolio, the square is a shortcut from the product page on your computer to the same print, with the same framing choices, on your phone — so you can hold the phone up to a wall and see the piece at the size it will be when it arrives.

What View in your room does

It places a framed print — or a diptych or triptych set — on a real wall, at the dimensions you selected. Change size, moulding or mount on the product page first; the QR (and the phone view) follow those choices.

It is different from the other previews on the same page:

  • Lounge is our styled room scene — useful for mood, not a measurement of your wall.
  • Your room lets you upload a photograph of your own wall. That photo stays on your device and is never uploaded. It is a picture overlay, not a true-size placement.
  • View in your room uses the phone camera to put the print on the wall in front of you, at the size you chose.

Diptychs and triptychs place as a set — three (or two) frames with the real gap between them, at the size shown on the product page.

How to use it on a computer

  1. Open any work — for example from the collection.
  2. Choose size, frame and mount. The wall view uses whatever is currently selected.
  3. Tap View in your room, just under Add to basket.
  4. A panel opens with a QR code, and a line confirming the size and framing you picked.
  5. Open the Camera on your phone (iPhone) or Camera / Chrome (Android). Point it at the square on the screen.
  6. Tap the banner that appears. On the phone, tap Place on a wall, then aim at a blank stretch of wall. Move slowly until the print sits where you want it.

The print stays true to the size on the product page. If it feels too large or too small, close the view, change the size, and scan again.

Already on a phone?

Skip the QR code. Open the product page, choose your framing, and tap View in your room. Then tap Place on a wall.

Two browser notes, because the wall view uses the phone’s built-in camera tools:

  • iPhone and iPad: use Safari. Chrome, Instagram and other in-app browsers will not open the wall view. If you scanned the QR with the Camera app, you are already in Safari — that is the right path.
  • Android: use Chrome.

A few practical notes

  • Stand a couple of metres back from the wall so the camera can see enough surface to place the print.
  • Even, indirect light helps. A very dark corridor or a wall of strong pattern is harder for the camera to read.
  • The feature is for seeing scale and framing. Colour on a phone screen is a guide, not a match for paper and glazing in daylight.

How does view in your room work?
Every product page carries a QR code. Scan it with a phone and the framed print appears on your own wall at its true size, in the frame and mount you have selected. Nothing is installed and no app is required.
Is the size shown accurate?
The size is accurate to the centimetre, provided the phone has calibrated the floor and the wall. The preview uses the framed dimensions rather than the artwork size, so what you see includes the mount and the moulding, not just the print.
Do I need an app?
No. It runs in the phone's own browser using the camera, so there is nothing to download and nothing to sign into. It works on recent iPhones and Android devices; older handsets may fall back to a flat preview rather than a placed one.
Can I try different frames before buying?
Moulding, mount width or size can be changed on the product page and the preview updates. It is worth doing, because a frame changes a piece more than most people expect and a work that was third on your list often comes first once mounted.
Why does the preview matter?
Scale is the most common buying mistake, and it is the hardest thing to judge from a screen. Seeing the framed size against your own furniture resolves in seconds what a measurement on a page rarely does, and it reduces returns for exactly that reason.
Can I use a photograph of a wall instead?
A photograph of the wall can be used instead of the live camera. Discover lets you upload a photograph of the actual wall and place work on it, which is useful when you are not in the room, or when you want to show someone else before deciding.
